Publications from the annual VIA IURIS conference Access to Justice: Barriers and Solutions contain important parts of discussions as well as conclusions of each conference. Publications are distributed mainly to representatives of professional public and decision-makers in area relevant for the conference. Publications often help to communicate and promote systematic changes.
For example, distributing publication with information regarding public control of power, focusing on disposing with municipal property, helped us to outline legislative amendment, lobby concerned stakeholders and achieve improvement towards transparent and competitive disposal of public property.
Publication from the 2007 conference devoted to this topic, as well as most of our conference publications, is available in Slovak. Conference publication from the first conference Access to Justice is the only one translated to English.
Second type of VIA IURIS publications addresses citizens – active public. Years of our case work experience provide sufficient material for manuals in the most demanded areas of law. Each handbook describes legal background in a given area of law (for example access to information), gives instructions on how to proceed and outlines means of legal protection.
Manuals on how to be engaged in environmental decision-making, how to set up a civic association, how to petition government in issues of public interest, how to be engaged in legislative process, how to be active in disclosing and combating corruption, what are rights and obligations of those who organize and participate in public assembly and some other manuals for active citizens are available in Slovak.
