Seminars for Judges, Judicial Candidates and High Court Officials
During the years 2000-2004, VIA IURIS in cooperation with the District court in Zilina, implemented a pilot education set of seminars for judges and pre-service judges and high court officials. These seminars combined professional development in selected legal areas and personal development of participants.
The legal section of the seminars focused on topical issues related to human rights and application of constitutional principles in the decision-making practice of the courts. In the second section of seminars we have cooperated with prominent psychologists focusing on the personal development of participants, development of their skills and abilities in their professional life.
Since the year 2004 VIA IURIS has been cooperating with the Judicial Academy of Slovakia and with organizations from Austria, Slovenia and Hungary implementing an educational program entitled: “Development and Implementation of a Non-Discrimination Pre-Service and In-Service Training Programme For Judges and Prosecutors on the Basis of Human Rights Education”. This year, 2005, two educational events are scheduled for judges, judicial trainees and prosecutors focusing on anti-discrimination issues. The program is supported by the European Commission within its activities targeting the area of anti-discrimination.
