Priority Areas of Strategic Litigation

We provide legal aid in selected priority areas:

Public Control of Power and Elimination of Corruption

• supporting public control of decision-making, including decisions of local self-governments, and public control over managing municipal property and other public resources;
• identifying and eliminating cases of corruption, especially in relation to public decision-making;
• protecting those who reveal corruption behaviour.

Judiciary and Ethics in Legal Professions

• pursuing consistency of ruling of the courts and elimination of arbitrariness in their ruling, especially when related to public participation in decision-making;
• promoting correctness of disciplinary prosecutions in legal professions;
• fostering education and co-operation with law students on enhancing awareness on human rights.

Right to Access Information and Public Participation in Decision-making

• supporting broad access to information and its preservation and protection from introduction of restrictive changes in the legislation and practice;
• enhancing actual and effective participation of citizens in decision-making on important issues;
• broadening a usual scope of those who can take actual part in decision-making.

Freedom of Expression

• protecting freedom of (critical) expression in cases related to public interest issues;
• protecting those who are persecuted for exerting freedom of expression;
• promoting balance between protection of freedom of expression and right to protection of personality.
