Information about authorizing nuclear devices concealed by amendments

The Slovak parliament has passed an amended legislation on the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), the problematic issue which may have caused to stop the EU funds for Slovakia. According to our opinion, however, the amended law still includes some shortcomings.

The amended EIA Act reduces the rights of the public

VIA IURIS has published on March 8, 2010 a press release whichtackales the issue of the amending of the EIA Act. The press relase points out the most serious shortcomings of the amendments.

The suspension of EU funds is still a real threat

VIA IURIS warns that the governmental draft amendment of the EIA act which is supposed to resolve insufficient possibilities for public to participate in the permitting procedures, is still not consistent with the EU directive. Slovakia thus faces a serious threat of the EU funds suspension.

Open letter to the Slovak Prime Minister

On January 26, VIA IURIS sent an open letter to the Slovak Prime Minister. We ask him to take responsibility for the situation in the Slovak judiciary. We also point out why we consider the disciplinary proceeding against Judge Miroslav Gavalec an insult to democracy, justice and rule of law.

VIA IURIS moves its main seat

Since January 1, 2010 VIA IURIS – Center for Public Advocacy changes its main seat’s address. The new seat can be found at the address: Radnicne nam. 9, 902 01 Pezinok, Slovakia.
