Public has the Right to Criticize the Judiciary
The content of a two-day work conference known as the “Cogency and Transparency in the Decisions of the Courts,” was a debate about the relationship between the public and the courts. The conference was organized by VIA IURIS – Center for Public Advocacy and was held on November 26th and 27th, 2009. The representatives of VIA IURIS informed journalists about the conference’s outcomes at a press conference today.
New Construction Law: Exclusion of Public Again ?!
VIA IURIS - Center for Public Advocacy, pointed out that if the new Construction Law, that has currently been debated by the Parliamentary Committees were adopted in its proposed form than this law would repeatedly allow construction without notifying the citizens that live near the construction zone.
"Concert for those who Care"
On the 17th of November it was a unique day and so was the "Concert for those who Care" (Koncert pre všímavých). After a successful premiere last year it was organized again by the Fair Play Alliance and Pohoda Agency on the Day of fight for freedom and democracy, as well as the memories of the events that took place on November 17th, 1989. The concert was held at a traditional venue in Bratislava, known as the Park of Culture (PKO).
Citizens of Pezinok went to the Streets Again – Demonstration against the Landfill
On November 12th at 5:00pm there was another demonstration held in the City Hall Square in Pezinok. It was another display organized by the civic initiative to illustrate the emotions of the citizens in Pezinok and their feelings against filling the landfill in the city with waste (Skládka nepatrí do mesta). Moreover, VIA IURIS fully supported the protest of the citizens, and concurs with the opinion that filling the landfill should be considered illegal.
